Klopp: Reds motivated by pleasing fans not the “holy grail” of winning the league

Jürgen Klopp bellowed out a post-match rallying call to Reds fans, letting them know the team is driven by us and the players are inspired by enjoying the title run and Champions League with supporters.

“We don’t know, if you are only motivated by winning the holy grail then something is wrong with you”, the German admitted with trademark frankness.

“We are motivated ourselves because we play for this club, because we want to win football games, because we enjoy the ride together with our fans, that’s the truth.”

It’s absolutely boss from the boss. Rather than claim the team are simply after silverware and glory for the sake of it, he’s aware that our boys want to do it for the fans and to enjoy the experience with us.

We probably all already knew this, but it’s brilliant that Klopp just says what he thinks and is honest about how he and the rest of the team are approaching what is now a record-breaking season.

Goals from Gini Wijnaldum and James Milner gave us the three points in Cardiff, putting us on a club-record 88 points in the Premier League.

Klopp also said, “We have no influence on the other games, we can play our games and our next game is against Huddersfield.”

Right again, Jürgen. There is the small matter of a Manchester Derby to come on Wednesday, but all we can do is keep winning games and see where we end up now.

After Huddersfield, it’s a trip to Barcelona for the first leg of our semi-final meeting. Still everything to play for so let’s try and enjoy the rest of the ride together, Reds!
