Odds: Liverpool players dominate current Ballon d’Or 2019 favourite market

After a season which has yielded 97 Premier League points and a Champions League final, three Reds players have a genuine chance to win the Ballon d’Or.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah both shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Virgil van Dijk won the PFA Player of the Year and has been simply sensational.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are both among the favourites, too, but neither will play in the Champions League final this year. With no World Cup or European Championships for either to influence, it could well be that a Reds player will win the award.

If the Reds can beat Spurs in the Champions League final, at least one of those three players will be crucial. That would make them even more likely to win the award, which would be an incredible achievement.

Van Dijk would perhaps be the most likely at this stage of the campaign as the odds reflect, but it is very rare that a defender comes out on top. If either Mane or Salah do something special in Madrid, it could be coming their way.

Nevertheless, whether a Reds man ends up with the award or not, the current odds just go to show the level which the Reds are operating at now – the very elite.
