Virgil van Dijk launched himself to the floor in utter relief after Divock Origi’s winning goal v Spurs on Saturday night.
While the rest of Liverpool’s team sprinted to the brilliant Belgian, our colossal Dutchman collapsed in a heap – as if to say, ‘we’ve done it’!
It wasn’t the best performance of our season, but we couldn’t care less.
The early goal meant Tottenham had to come at us, and Jurgen Klopp’s boys actually controlled the game very well.
Spurs didn’t have many chances and on the balance of play, a 2-0 win was fair, although we can admit the penalty was soft.
Van Dijk’s individual performance was jaw-dropping, though. Right now, there is not a defender on the planet who can compete with him.
As a result, he’s the second favourite to win the Ballon d’Or, behind Lionel Messi!
The Argentine will likely collect the gong, but van Dijk won’t be too fussed.
The fact he’s got his hands on the most important piece of silverware in club football is far more important.
