French journalist claims Fekir price is €15m – and says he knows why the deal broke down last year

French football journalist Vincent Duluc, who works for L’Equipe, claims Nabil Fekir could be sold for as little as €15 million this summer, because his club have decided to cash in.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has already confirmed that he expects Fekir to go this summer, according to the report in Footradio where Duluc is quoted.

Duluc also claims that the reason the deal broke down last summer was because Liverpool were concerned about Fekir’s brother-in-law, who asked Lyon for ‘something more’ right at the last minute.

Not wanting to have similar problems down the line with Fekir in a red shirt, it is claimed that the Reds pulled the plug. It is not known exactly what that ‘something more’ was, but Jurgen Klopp only wants players who are joining the club for the right reasons and who will be no trouble.

If that is true, then the Reds are unlikely to go back in for the Frenchman even if he is available for transfer at such a cheap price – as was always the case, whatever the issue was last summer, it is unlikely to have been resolved since then.

These claims are really interesting – but if they are correct, the Reds are not going to back for him. We suspect it won’t be the last we hear of Fekir, though.
