One of the best stats of the season is how no attacker dribbled past Virgil van Dijk all year long.
He’s faced Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar – but nobody has beaten our supreme central defender.
And yesterday during the Nations League Final between Portugal and Netherlands, won 1-0 by the former, Bernardo Silva didn’t either!
In the tweet below, which is actually serious and not a joke, it’s claimed that this moment shows the Manchester City playmaker dribbling van Dijk.
Except, he actually just cuts inside and ends up going backwards, before losing the ball!
To suggest this counts as ‘dribbled past’ is ludicrous.

Van Dijk is the best in the business by some distance, and he’s a real contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or as a result.
We’re not sure if he’ll pip the sensational Messi to the gong, but the fact he’s in contention and could be the first defender to win it since 2006, says plenty.
