Liverpool reportedly interested in £55m-rated man; but fans should ignore rumours

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, and see him as a potential deputy to Brazilian star Alisson Becker.

Cillessen doesn’t start most games at the Catalan club as Marc Andre ter Stegen is seen as the top dog, but he’s numero uno for the Dutch national team.

The Reds are in the market for a replacement for the outgoing Simon Mignolet – with Loris Karius set to stay on loan for another season, according to the Liverpool Echo.

For the moment I don’t know what will happen, after this [Nations League] I will go on holiday with friends and we’ll see,Cillessen told Calciomercato.

My agent takes care of it. I have to take a decision with my agent. But first, I want to have a rest. In general, it’s been a difficult season with little game-time, various injuries and lots of trips.

And I’ve lost two finals. I want to forget this year as quickly as possible. The fact Barca are asking for £55million doesn’t help. I’m still relaxed about it. We just need to wait and see.

I’ll consider my options after my summer holiday. But I’m looking for a club in one of the top five leagues in Europe.

Yeah – this is absolute garbage. There is no way that Liverpool would consider spending almost £60million on a goalkeeper who is already a bench-warmer at Barcelona.

If Cillessen moves on from the Catalan giants, it’ll be to a club where he’s guaranteed first-team football – he’s better than a bench warmer.
