World’s 100 Most Valuable Players: Salah 2nd, Mane 6th, Van Dijk 24th, Gomez 78th

CIES Football Observatory has released its 100 most valuable footballers on the planet – and the list is absolutely jam-packed full of Liverpool players.

The Swiss Think-Tank claims they base their ratings on a myriad of factors, including: ‘age, contract, position, minutes, goals, international status, team results’ and many more.

So, this isn’t the 100 best players in the world – but the 100 who would theoretically fetch the biggest transfer fee should a prospective buyer want to purchase them.

This is why Lionel Messi is at no.4, because his age means he isn’t worth what Kylian Mbappe is – although he’s a far better player right now.

In total, 11 Liverpool players make the list:

-Mo Salah 2nd
-Sadio Mane 6th
-Roberto Firmino 8th
-Trent Alexander-Arnold 13th
-Virgil van Dijk 22nd
-Alisson 24th
-Andy Robertson 32nd
-Fabinho 36th
-Gini Wijnaldum 51st
-Naby Keita 68th
-Joe Gomez 78th

Trent is listed as the world’s most potentially expensive defender and Alisson the most valuable goalkeeper!

And three of our starting forwards are in the top 10 overall.

It’s actually incredible how strong a position we’re in right now.
