Reds fans hijack Lazio POTY award for the second successive year

Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has once again been handed a boost in the race to become the Italian side’s Player of the Year, with Reds fans hijacking the vote.

Up against Felipe Caicedo and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, the Brazilian won the semi-final stage by a landslide, largely thanks to Reds fans voting. He picked up 88% of the votes.

The ‘final’ of the POTY voting is likely to take place this weekend on Lazio’s official Twitter account, which can be accessed by clicking here.

It’s not the first time this has happened either: last year, the exact same thing happened, with Lucas winning the POTY having got 71% of the votes.

Having been at Anfield for a decade, Lucas is still rightly loved by Reds fans. Now we just need to make sure he wins the final as well and can take home the POTY award for a second successive season in Italy.
