Facing Zimbabwe last night in their opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt emerged with a 1-0 victory which featured the impressive – yet somehow goaless – performance of Mohamed Salah.
Salah was one of the standout players of the night, while Mahmoud Hassan (otherwise known as Trézéguet) got the vital goal for Egypt.
It wasn’t a perfect performance from Salah and Zimbabwe managed to keep him quiet, but the Reds’ 27-year-old was lively all night and always seemed to be at the heart of most attacking moves.
Mo had four shots on target for the Pharoahs and his seven shots in total all came from the right, as is his wont.
With things as they stand, Mo and Egypt have their first points on the board, topping Group A before DR Congo and Uganda face off in the other group game.
