Reds in with chance as Fernandes’ agent flies to England for “concrete proposals”

A Bola have reported that the agent of Bruno Fernandes, Miguel Pinho, is due to arrive in England this week to hold talks on the future of his client with the Reds, as well Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

While Pinho has allegedly discussed a move for Fernandes before, it is reported that this visit will only yield “concrete proposals” to take back to Lisbon and perhaps a clinching verdict.

With the three possible Premier League destinations, A Bola very annoyingly claim Manchester United “continue to be of the highest interest,” followed by Spurs, and then us.

That said, the Portuguese outlet also report that Fernandes has not yet received an offcial offer, while maintaining that none of the interested parties, including the Reds, are willing to submit a bid in excess of €55 million.

João Mário to Inter Milan for €40 million back in 2016 remains Sporting’s highest sale, so even at the figure quoted in the report a sanctioning of the deal for Fernandes would break Sporting’s club-record.

Whether the Reds will meet that €55 million, or be drawn into a bidding war, remains to be seen; we would still have to contend with our most bitter rivals who seem to have stolen a bit of march after failing to make a high-profile signing with Harry Maguire.

On the other hand, the rumour mill never fails to disappoint with fans giving their opinions and theories on the matter.

It’s still a fairly high fee that could rise slightly further still, and, Jürgen Klopp’s midfield as it is, he might instead decide to invest those funds up front or at the back.
