Reds reportedly interested in Brazilian forward who knows Roberto Firmino well

A report from Calciomercato claims that the Reds are interested in signing Ajax winger David Neres, who has scored 31 times and assisted 33 in his 111 matches in the Netherlands so far.

The Brazilian international, 22, started twice for his country at the Copa America over the summer and so would already have an understanding with Roberto Firmino.

The issue, as always now, will be convincing him to come in with so many other options for the frontline, if indeed the Reds’ interest is serious.

Neres was linked with the club over the summer but ended up staying at Ajax. His performances last season were enough for his club to place a valuation of around £80 million on him.

The Reds are highly unlikely to want to pay that, though if a deal was to be agreed, we would be all for it: Neres has proven to be a great talent, and at that age, he still has a lot of development left in him yet.
