Virgil van Dijk is an incredible footballer: we all know that. Red Bull Salzburg’s tweet about him today, though, has only served to underline that point even further.
What at first glance appears to simply be a show of support for their front players also contains a little statistic that Reds fans will enjoy.

‘Dribbles past Van Dijk’ followed by a number one is not a statistic you will see very often. Van Dijk doesn’t get dribbled past very much, but the fact that Salzburg decided to include it says everything about the standard the Dutchman has set.
If a defender getting dribbled past is worthy of a celebration, he must be a very good defender indeed.
The Reds’ defence looked a little shaky against Salzburg at Anfield – and a brilliant game will be in store over in Austria – but it was back to normal against Leicester City on Saturday, apart from James Maddison’s goal.
Van Dijk will have first-choice goalkeeper Alisson back alongside him after the international break, with the Brazilian set to make his return from injury over the next couple of weeks.
