Reds ‘target’ signs new deal with incredibly cheap release clause no longer valid

Reported Reds target Hakim Ziyech has signed a new deal with Ajax which no longer includes a €30 million release clause, according to the Daily Mirror.

Both the Reds and Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Moroccan, and many would have been very tempted to pay that small fee for the number 10 who was brilliant as the Dutch giants progressed through to the Champions League semi-finals.

Now though, Ajax could charge whatever they like for Ziyech, making a move seem much less likely.

How serious the Reds’ interest was in Ziyech is unclear. Given his quality, it does seem strange that no club took advantage of his release clause while it was valid.

With passing like this, he’s clearly a talent.

The Reds will not be concerned at potentially missing out on the bargain, though, with Jurgen Klopp’s midfield options already pretty well-stacked.
