Reds reportedly make strange transfer u-turn and are now prepared to listen to offers for midfielder

Liverpool are prepared to listen to offers for young midfielder Herbie Kane in January, according to Football Insider, just a few weeks after deciding to keep him at the club over the summer.

After impressing out on loan for Doncaster Rovers last season, Kane was expected to move elsewhere during the transfer window, perhaps stepping up into the Championship.

By the end of the transfer window, though, he was still at Anfield and has been training with and representing the U23s under Neil Critchley.

With the Reds reportedly having doubts over the long-term suitability for Kane to make it at first-team level, a permanent switch in January could now be on the cards.

The writing was probably on the wall when Kane was left out of the team to play MK Dons in the Carabao Cup. He came off the bench in that game for just eight minutes near the end.

Kane will turn 21 next month and the best move for his career could be to find a permanent home elsewhere, with plenty of clubs set to be interested in him.
