Sterling speaks out: Says he’s ‘Man enough to admit’ wrongdoing in ‘5-10 second thing’

Raheem Sterling has taken to Instagram to explain what happened with Joe Gomez that saw him thrown out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

According to Sky Sports, Sterling asked Gomez if thought he was ‘the big man now,’ after he walked into a group of players laughing while on England duty…

The players continued to laugh at Sterling, but he grabbed Gomez by the throat and Southgate took the appropriate action.

Sterling has claimed that what he did wasn’t in his character and that the emotions of Liverpool v Manchester City got the better of him.

He also said he is ‘man enough to admit’ the mistake – although he doesn’t go as far as apologising to Gomez.

For Liverpool fans, we’re just a little annoyed that Sterling’s stupidity means he now gets two weeks rest while our players are on international duty!

Never mind – we suppose it just shows how rattled City are right now by our lead at the top of the table.
