Danny Murphy thinks Liverpool would want Harry Kane as striker

Danny Murphy was much-loved when he was a Red, but he’s not the greatest pundit in the world.

He works for a number of outlets, including talkSPORT, where alongside the always-wrong Adrian Durham, he recently claimed Harry Kane would get in Liverpool’s side over Roberto Firmino.

You can listen to the back and forth in the embedded tweet, below:

Kane is a wonderful striker and definitely a better goalscorer than Firmino – but that simply isn’t Bobby’s role in Liverpool’s team.

The reason Mo Salah and Sadio Mane score so many and shared the Premier League Golden Boot last term is largely because of the work Firmino does.

His creativity is second to none, as demonstrated by a number of mindboggling assists this term already, as is the defensive work he puts in high up the field.

Not only this, but his flicks, tricks and movement create space for our wide-forwards.

Liverpool would take Kane, but he’d be a complement to the side and not a Firmino replacement – not that we’d consider spending the money Daniel Levy would demand anyway.
