Our first major game against the other top 3, the beginning game of a tough and exciting month. I watched the Manchester United game yesterday in awe as I saw a team known as Sunderland play beyond their stereotypical status. Their defence was 100% and team spirit went unbroken until the end. Their unity and passion is an example of what we are going to have to incorporate into today’s game after that horrible example on Tuesday.
Cech will not be playing today and I consider that a big and lucky bonus. Any team will wish to have their first keeper against a team with the most Premier Goals under their belt. We have a boost of perhaps having Agger to start or on the bench, and let us be truly honest with ourselves, Liverpool’s defence has not been up to the standard it should be. We cannot make mistakes in this match, we cannot show weakness to our enemy, our War Dance must be more intimating that theirs.
We are heading to the lion’s den this morning, to the coliseum in my opinion, the Bridge. I do not want just a win today, I want a victory that will place much doubt in the mind of Arsenal and United. I want Chelsea to be out-played and out-thought. I want to be able to hear every single 12th man around this small world singing their hearts out during this important 90 minutes, I want everyone at the Bridge to hear it.
I do not want a draw, I do not want a loss, I want such a victory that Arsenal and United will be dreading our up-coming fixtures even more than usual. I want the spirit of Bill Shankly to roar through the team like it should have done on Tuesday, to roar so loud that will still hear the echo by Christmas.
I want blood.
I want Liverpool to multiply the blood, sweat and tears that fans have put into supporting this team over the years, I want more than just 3 points. I want fearful respect.
I want each 11 men to play with the ethics of Dirk Kuyt, the determination of Jamie Carragher, the precession of Fernando Torres, the passion of Steven Gerrard, the calm of Rafa Beneitz, and most importantly, the spirit, of Bill Shankly.
No one of our global family has ever walked alone, and I want everyone else to know that.
I have mentioned a lot of ‘I wants’ in this article, but the one main thing I want today, is for the Liverpool War Dance to truly commence, and to never end.
