Milner says we’ve still not seen what he’s capable of – but we soon will

It’s fair to say that James Milner hasn’t exactly set the world alight since his free transfer from Man City last summer.

He’s not been bad, but he’s also been a long way short of what we all hoped and expected when he moved down the East Lancs Road.

Milner himself accepts that he has still not hit top gear, but has vowed that he soon will.

“I still think there is a lot more to come from me here. It is tough changing clubs,” said the midfielder. “I have changed clubs before, played in the Premier League and played a lot of games but it does seem to take time.” (via Echo).

“It is a big change, you are playing with different players and everything is new. I don’t think I have hit the levels I want to achieve and I know I can, but I will keep working hard and hopefully my best form will come and the fans will see the best of me.”

He also spoke about the impending game against his old club in the League Cup final next month:

“We’ve given ourselves a good start, we’re in the final! And we’re in all the other competitions. Winning the FA Cup [at City] gave us the belief that we could go and win trophies. The first one is always important, to have that winning habit; to get over the line. The first one gave us the belief to go and win the league the next year.”

“We’re in a final and it’s one step further than we got last year. It’s pleasing. We’ve got a lot of improving to do as well. If we can do that, it should be exciting times at the club. There’s definitely a lot more to come from this squad.”

Do you think there is still more to come from Milner?
