The Liverpool transfer committee has come in for some heavy criticism in the past, with the targets identified often not coming close to the calibre the fans expect.
There’s real hope that things will be different under Jurgen Klopp, but a number of fans aren’t happy with the players being linked with us this summer either.
We’ve been linked with the likes of Sadio Mane, Piotr Zielinski, and Ben Chilwell recently (via the Echo), and a huge section of the Liverpool fanbase believe we should be setting our sites higher.
They voiced their opinions on Twitter, venting their fury at the transfer committee and the way things are already going this summer.
@CalvLyfeson shame our transfer committee doesn’t like good players.

Chilwell and Mané for a combined £40m?! Didn’t know Rodgers was still part of the transfer committee. — Rishi (@Rishi_LFC) June 22, 2016
@Zizouology @ViktorFagerLFC this is why our scouting and transfer committee has to be taken apart! Shocking for a club of our size!

Nothing will change till #LFC have a proper Director of Football & ditch the transfer committee. All I’m saying. pic.twitter.com/lMWSTivZ0b — MerseysideFischer (@MerseysideFisch) June 21, 2016
I’m my dreams we sign Bonucci, Hector, Kante, Mkhitryan and Higuain. I should be on the transfer committee @LFC, transfer genius me! #LFC

Zielinski, Chillwell and Mane, all seem like Transfer committee signings, Very very worrying if Klopp doesn’t have full control.. — KloppiteStuff (@KopiteStuff) June 21, 2016
Klopp would never go for mané, just proves our transfer committee still exists and it does my head in

With regards to the transfer committee, y would they want Chiwell for example over Hector? Age, fee and wages are decent for Hector! #LFC — Addicted 2 Football (@GenericFootball) June 21, 2016
Mane, Chilwell, Zielinkski… Nice one #lfc transfer committee pic.twitter.com/FuiA69Q4Fb

Our transfer committee is beyond a joke btw. Sack them all. — statsandswearwords (@Ibraista) June 21, 2016
While everyone is entitled to their opinion, it’s hard to support these views this early in the transfer window. While we have been linked with many of these players, there’s no telling just how concrete these rumours are. Jurgen Klopp may yet have big plans in the transfer market this summer, and during his first full pre-season with the club we should trust his judgement and wait and see what he’s capable of.

He may not have full control over transfers, but he will certainly play a big part in the process. We’ve seen nothing but positives from the German so far, so there’s no reason to lose faith now.
