Christian Benteke doesn’t appear to have much of a future at Liverpool, and the Belgian is being heavily linked with a number of clubs. Atletico Madrid are the latest to be credited with an interest, with the La Liga side contemplating a €30m move for the striker, according to reports in Spain (via Goal).
The former Aston Villa man has really struggled since his switch to Anfield, as he just doesn’t suit our style of football – under Brendan Rodgers or Jurgen Klopp.
He’s not a bad player by any means, but he just doesn’t have a place at the club. He looks very likely to be on the move this summer, but it’s questionable whether Atletico will be the club that snaps him up.
The report originates from Spanish outlet Fichajes, who we put no stock in whatsoever. There’s no telling whether there is any truth behind this rumour, and we’ll probably have to wait to find out the real story.
We can definitely see Benteke moving on this summer, but until we hear something a little more concrete we won’t assume anything.
It seems unlikely that Atletico would make a move for him, as not only do they already have several striking options, but Antoine Griezmann has just signed a contract extension (via Sky Sports).
