Klopp underscores his high standards as he claims the second half performance wasn’t good enough

Jurgen Klopp has once again revealed how high his standards are with some telling quotes in the aftermath of yesterday’s 5-1 win over Hull City at Anfield.

We went into half-time with a 3-0 advantage thanks to Lallana, Milner, and Mane – but we immediately let the ten-man Tigers back into the game with a sloppy goal in the 51st minute.

Luckily, Brazilian magician Phil Coutinho was on hand to restore our three goal lead just one minute and nine passes later, and Milner then completed the rout with our second penalty of the game in the 71st minute.

But Klopp says there was room for improvement in the second period, even if the first half was excellent.

“I think we could have done better in the second half, honestly,” he said (official site)

“In the second half, a little bit better would have been nice.

“We have a lot of things to improve and one of the things is if you are brilliant, you need to be brilliant for 95 minutes. We were brilliant first half and second half we were still good, but not brilliant anymore. It’s all good and only my problem.”

It’s fantastic to see a manager react in this way. How many bosses would have been full of empty platitudes in a bid to further their own standing as much as the team’s? We can certainly think of one man from down the East Lanc Road who would!
