Jamie Carragher has backed Jurgen Klopp to deliver silverware to Anfield, claiming that he’s everything we all hoped he would be so far.
We haven’t won anything since a League Cup victory in 2012, though we lost two finals last season in difficult circumstances.
“In terms of Klopp over these next couple of seasons, he’s been to two cup finals and you hope a manager like that can bring us some trophies, it’s not easy, we’ve had a barren spell,” he said (Echo)
“I think he’s been everything we expected him to be. A fantastic football manager but also a fantastic character and addition to the Premier League.
“I can’t think of anybody else out there who would be a better fit for our club.”
Carra thinks the club’s owner – FSG – should be applauded for bringing Klopp to Anfield in the first place. He says he thought back when Rodgers was sacked last autumn that he was the only man for the job.
“The one man who takes most credit and certainly should take most credit is Jurgen Klopp,” he added.
“Maybe the club also for going for Jurgen Klopp. I said when Brendan Rodgers was sacked and Thierry Henry had his hand over my thigh, the only man Liverpool should be going for was Jurgen Klopp, he was the outstanding candidate and available.”
Do you agree with Carra’s assessment? One thing is absolutely clear — we have the best man for the job right now. There is no other manager in world football that we would prefer to have in charge of the club.
The transformation since he took over a year ago has been both fast and impressive. The future is most definitely looking bright. A win over Utd next weekend would put us six points ahead of them.
