Grujic plays 90 minutes as Serbia U21s grab an impressive away win in Ireland

Marko Grujic completed a full 90 minutes for the Serbia U21s tonight as they beat the Republic of Ireland 3-1 in Dublin. (Soccerway)

Getting 90 minutes under his belt will have done both his fitness and his confidence the world of good. He had a great pre-season but picked up a knock a week before the season started and has struggled for minutes ever since.

Serbia actually fell a goal behind as Courtney Duffus put the Irish ahead four minutes into the second half, but goals from Nemanja Mihajlović, Mijat Gaćinović, and Saa Lukic saw them walk away with the win.

The game was Serbia’s ninth outing in their qualifying group for the U21 Championships. They are currently second in Group 2 with 20 points, just three behind leaders Italy.

Andorra, Lithuania, and Slovenia are the other sides in the group. The Irish are currently fourth with 12 points and are unlikely to qualify for next summer’s finals.
