Jordan Henderson cleverly gets himself booked in dying moments, will miss League Cup tie

Posted by

Jordan Henderson has been walking on the proverbial disciplinary tightrope for the last two games.

He was already on four bookings, one more would have meant he’d miss a match.

A lot of people thought he might get a yellow in the clash with United, but the dour game didn’t produce any bad fouls and instead the fifth booking game in the 87th minute today.

Was it deliberate from our captain? He will now serve a one-game ban against Spurs in the League Cup on Tuesday, a game in which he’d have almost certainly been rested anyway.

The booking wasn’t even for a foul, he was given it for arguing with the ref. It seems to us he knew exactly what he was doing, waiting until the dying moments before forcing the ref’s hand.
