Around this time last year, every Liverpool fan and his dog were salivating about the prospect of Mario Gotze signing for us in summer 2016.
Gossip columns were being refreshed on a daily basis and endless ‘How Gotze would fit in Klopp’s Liverpool XI’ articles circled the internet.
But the German decided to join former club Borussia Dortmund instead, where he’s flatly failed to reproduce the form which once saw him lauded as world-class.
As a result, speculation has grown that Jurgen Klopp could go in for him again in summer 2017 (via Mirror), but Liverpool fans are far less excited about the prospect this time around…
In fact, the overwhelming reaction is that Gotze (still only 24) is past his sell-by date and shouldn’t be given another chance having already rejected us once.
For us, we’re undecided… Gotze has immense class, but it’s rapid wingers and forwards we require, not technical playmakers. If we can get him on the cheap, it could be worth the risk, but we’d prefer to invest the money in someone with better physical traits.
The Liverpool team if Gotze joined us is mind blowing pic.twitter.com/O4qZfVMbfQ

@SamMcGuire90 That player is no more. We need to move on, get creative and pay up if necessary.
