Frank Lampard seems a thoroughly decent lad, in fairness.
He broke Xabi Alonso’s ankle once, which is tough to forget, but he was a great player and has our full respect.
The Englishman is retired now and last night appeared on Monday Night Football alongside his former opponent Jamie Carragher, who of course was a mainstay of the Liverpool v Chelsea battles which littered Rafa Benitez’s reign.
Lampard answered fan questions, one of which was to name the hardest central midfield opponents he ever faced.
Despite the fact they struggled for England together, Lampard named Gerrard no.1, followed by Barcelona’s iconic duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
