Paul Joyce explains weird Mane/Senegal situation

Respected journalist Paul Joyce has written in the Times that Jurgen Klopp will be ‘alarmed’ by the fact Aliou Cisse has called up Sadio Mane to the Senegal squad.

At Empire of the Kop, we think this is a very polite way to predict Liverpool’s manager’s reaction!

Despite the fact our winger has an injured hamstring, picked up while on his last international duty, Cisse has named him in the roster to face South Africa in a World Cup Play Off on November 10 and 14…

“In my mind, there is no doubt he will be us for the double-header against South Africa and that he will be 100 per cent fit,” Cissé said. “Until now, he has just been doing some individual training—running in straight lines. But from next week, he is going to train harder and start working with the ball.”

Liverpool though have ruled Mane out until almost December, meaning Senegal are directly going against our medical advice.

Klopp is always frustrated by international managers and their perceived lack of care for the fitness and well-being of his players.

But nothing this ridiculous has ever happened under his tenure.

We expect a very strong statement coming from Klopp soon.
