Thur 10th Dec 2009 Liverpool News, Rumours and Rants

We were unlucky last night, we did have some bright moments; it was nice to see Aquilani getting a good run and for Pacheco to get some opportunity for brilliance. But in all it was really really nice to see Torres back, we missed him dearly.

First with the troubling piece of news, Mascherano refuses to commit more…
(You owe us Javier)

Dossena probably played his last Liverpool game yesterday more…
(Looks like he is going to Roma, how about that hair?)

And now Ryan Babel is being linked with Spurs with Puvlychenko coming our way more…
(This does make some sense, we will see)

Stevie wants to refocus on the Premier League more…
(Agreed, nice to see you back to almost 100%)

We will not be seeded for the Europa League more…
(The draw is next week)

Rafa has his sights set on Arsenal more…
(Come on Reds give a good win, we deserve it)

More about Keirrison joining up in January more…
(The fact that it is a loan makes it credible)

Former Liverpool golfer Craig Bellamy has the Swine Flu
(Just grab the 6-iron and whack your head with it, that should work)

Oh Boy!! Ngog gets advice from Henry more…

(Ok David, only seek advice on how to score goals, nothing else)

Everton are interested in signing Landon Donovan on loan more…
(I think most of the players who sign for Everton do not know it. Their agents probably trick them, “Hey do you want to sign for a team in Liverpool?”. Anyways Landon could not cut it in the Bundesliga so he should be perfect for Everton, LOL)

And finally the real Tom Cruise retweeted one of Tweets yesterday more…
(I was making a reference to an Arsenal player called Tom Cruise, ROFL)

  1. We were not unlucky last night, we were poor and there can be no glossing over the fact. Yes, we played a mix of ‘up and coming’ talent and experience and yes, it was fantastic to see Aquilani make his full debut, for Stevie to get more game time and of course the return of the goal machine Torres. But, it was sloppy defending and a lack of pace (speed of play) throughout the team that cost us.

Fiorentina are not the best team in the world and we should have been able to beat them, especially after taking the lead. Like I said we played some young guys, but it would have been better to end, what has been a poor CL campaign on a high, and not have to talk / read about the teams exit.

I’m still behind Rafa and he is to be applauded for bringing the younger players through, but we need a more consistent all round performance from everyone involved if we are to:

    A: finish 4th (or above)
B: perform well in the Europa League
C: generate a bit of belief throughout the club (that includes the fans

We are a great club with piles of history – let’s start living up to it and show the rest of Europe that ‘we haven’t gone away’

  2. Antoine – you make your own luck. We are in need of a massive kick up the backside. It was not a good performance on wed, how many times did we test the keeper?
