AWAY GOAL, EXTRA TIME, WHY?!

Posted by

Not too bad tonight, we won in 90 and in the game, players went missing when it came to the nitty gritty, but that is not my grievance.

I want to put this to all of you. Why does a goal in extra time count as an away goal, surely that is giving the away side in the second leg an extra 30mins to get that away factor.Wouldn’t it be easier to agree that extra time is 0-0 start again for 30mins?!

  1. Totally agree with this. I mean, when it’s extra time, it means that the 2 teams have the same score. So basically, it becomes a drawback to play at home.

  2. I still blame the linesman from the first leg for ruling Youssi’s goal offside, where replays clearly show it was ONside.

That, or I’m just bitter that yet another Forlan double did us…

  3. I totally agree with you.its extra time and you are giving the other team more previlege which is biased.besides refree’s were poor in decisions.they discarded a clear onside goal and then domniguez challenge on kyut was worthy of straight red card.we were better team tonight and we went out in pride.

  4. It is the same away goals rule in the CL! It’s shit though and needs to be looked at. As does stupid rules like being cup tied. That rule was around to stop teams signing players just for a final etc when there was no transfer window. These days with the transfer windows you don’t have that, so why cup tie players? What is the point in that? So Maxi could have played and to me would have made a difference!

Another ‘rule’ I don’t like, is that you are refereed to your own leagues standards! So the Spanish team get a foul for someone looking at them in a slightly derogatory way, whereas it takes GBH for an English team to get a foul! I really can’t stand Reyes as he is one of the worst and hope Fulham dick them in the final!!!

  5. Is it me or did Stevie go missing in that game…especially the 2nd half, I hardly saw him. I saw more of Lucas and Masch….what a season

  6. dont matter about penalties as both teams have an even chance of scoring,
but yes extra time goals should be classed as just a goal

  7. ur bang on mate!! in fact that`s the way i thought it was, until i heard it from the commentator that the away goal rule still counts.
someone should make an official complain to the uefa and in fact fifa aswell.

  8. If away goals rule in extra time seems unfair how about advantage of playing extra time and penalty kicks at home? Liverpool didn’t beat Atletico on aggregate in regular time and they were given extra 30 minutes at home. If you are away team does it sound like a fair proposition?

I say remove away goals rule in regular time but keep it in extra time.

  9. It was Lucas.he didn’t help anything.his positioning is awful and doesn’t take responsibilties.it was gerrard who covered lef and right of midfield.and it was masch if he plays midfield.didn’t u guys see.why are we not fielding the exact positioning when we play burnley.it was lucas who cost us this season.and the way benitez is talking,he will be leaving liverpool.

  10. I agree. Extra time goals should start from 0 x 0. If penalties start from that why ET doesn’t?

  11. its ridiculous that the away goal advantage still applies,

    makes no sense at all,

giving the team an extra half hour to get an away goal advantage.

    STUUUPID

  12. I was under teh impression they used to play the silver goal method in the champions league where extra time basically starts again at 0-0

  13. Hmm.. would it be as many complains if it were Liverpool benefiting from away goals rule? Like in 2007 CL win over Barcelona.

  14. Wow, everyone that has posted here saying “OMG der shuldnt be away gls in xtra tyme advantage to the away team WTF !!11!!” or “your giving the away team more privilege which is biased” you make me LOL.

they get away goals in ET because the home team STILL has the advantage of PLAYING AT HOME (did i just blow your mind?). scrap away goals and the home team has an advantage, keep them and its all fair.
