  1. Whilst clearly we aren’t privy to all the details of the Suárez hearing a couple of interesting points from the Guardian article:

    1. “Evra allegedly pulled away and said: “Don’t touch me, you South American.” – “You South American”?! Well that is “a reference to ethnic origin” by Evra which is what Suárez is charged with and breaches the UK Equality Act if used in the same way as a racist reference.

    2. “(Evra) allegedly said to Marriner: “You’re only booking me because I’m black.”” – Ok allegedly, but the allegation should be investigated like Suárez has had to be because it questions the impartiality of the official (like Babel did albeit in a more humorous way).

    Will the FA do anything about this? Don’t hold your breath…

  2. That red card was ridiculous. The Ref went to the assistant ref, who was in the opposite half. And the assistant ref told the Ref what to give. You could see the Ref ask “Red?” when he was talking to the assistant. And the assistant just nodded. It’s doubtful the assistant had a better view of it than the Ref.
