Kolo Toure goes on emphatic pro Brendan Rodgers rant, claiming ‘We all love him’

Ivorian desperate for Rodgers to stay at the Anfield helm…

Kolo Toure definitely doesn’t want his Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to lose his job, reports ITV Sport.

We lost 3-0 at Old Trafford to rivals Manchester United on Sunday, confirming our worst start to a league campaign in 50 years.

This would cost most Reds bosses their job, but Rodgers led the team to within inches of title glory in 2013/14, and is without last term’s two most influential players: Luis Suarez (sold to Barcelona) and Daniel Sturridge (injured since August).

Toure, who has arguably been our best defender this campaign when he’s been called upon, has launched a passionate defence of the Northern Irish manager.

“It’s crazy to even talk about his future,” the ageing Ivorian began.

“He’s a great manager and we all know that. Just look at how fantastic he did last season.

“We’re all behind him and we’re all trying to make things better. He’s a great manager. We all love him.

“He took me from City where I was not playing a lot and people were thinking ‘Kolo is gone’ and he gave me another chance by bringing me in to Liverpool and now I am playing at one of the best clubs in the world.

“I enjoy my football under him. I feel more young than ever now. He is a great manager and he makes us play football.

“We will all do our best to get him and the club out of this situation.”

Toure’s words are admirable, and proves, if anything, that Rodgers has not lost the dressing room – and that the players will fight tooth and nail for our cause…

The 33-year-old defender probably deserves a starting spot for us right now, based on his performance levels this term in comparison with his more expensive teammates.
