Raheem Sterling ruled out Tottenham game through injury

Raheem Sterling will not be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur tonight due to a minor injury blow.

The 20 year-old sustained a few knocks to his ankle last Wednesday in the FA Cup, with Bolton Wanderers players making some agricultural challenges on him.

David Wheater, Dervite and Liam Feeney all made tackles that followed through to make contact with Sterling’s ankle, and although he played 82 minutes against Everton, BBC reporter Ben Smith claims that he will not make the Spurs game.

A further challenge into his foot against our Merseyside rivals has curtailed his chances of facing Spurs, and we’ll have to hope that referees offer more protection to one of our best assets in future.

We’ll have to hope that Daniel Sturridge is able to start in Sterling’s absence, for we’ll need the pace and movement up front against a rapidly improving Tottenham side.

Philippe Coutinho is also a doubt for tonight’s game, meaning we could be without our two most creative players for a hugely important game.
