Sources close to the club have confirmed that the pitch will be removed and reseeded over the summer months (via thisisanfield), while the draining and lighting systems will also be reviewed.

The work is not expected to delay any of our redevelopment plans, despite suggestions that the building team would need to use the pitch to access areas of their work.

According to the report, the Anfield playing surface has come in for heavy criticism so far this season, with experts putting down the difficulties in maintaining it’s standards to adverse weather conditions and the extra games.
