Could a future maestro be on his way to Anfield?
Liverpool have edged ahead of top-four rivals Arsenal to become the favourites to sign Barcelona youngster, Sergi Samper, who has been compared to Italy legend, Andrea Pirlo.
According to the Metro, the Gunners have been interested in the player for the long time – and have previous with the Catalan club, signing both Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin from the Spanish giants – but they have yet to table a bid for the player.
That has allowed Brendan Rodgers to sneak in for the 20-year-old, and he could make his move in the summer. The Metro report that the midfielder currently has a buy-out clause of £9.6m at the Nou Camp, and he may well be interested in a move to England due to a lack of first-team opportunities with the La Liga leaders.
Samper has predominantly featured for the club’s B team, but has played four games for the main side this season – including one appearance in the Champions League, and three games in the Copa Del Rey.
