Adam Lallana will prove his worth

Here is why Liverpool fans should keep the faith in Adam Lallana.

The £25 million signing has had a tough start to his Liverpool career after leaving Southampton last summer.

With no pre-season and continous injuries throughout the season, we are still yet to see the best of the creative English midfielder. It has been difficult for Lallana to get a run of games together which has impacted his progress dramatically.

With the season reaching its conclusion, Lallana has stated that it has not worked out the way he planned it.

Despite seeing some positive and skillful football from Lallana, many Liverpool fans still believe he has not justified his price tag. With 5 goals and 4 assists, it certainly hasn’t been the return all Liverpool fans were hoping for from our most expensive summer signing.

Looking away from the negatives, I personally still feel this will be a good signing down the years for Liverpool.

The man certainly has talent and plenty of flair when he plays. His first goal for the club against West Bromwich Albion showed why we spent such a hefty fee on him.

Not only is his technical ability fantastic, but his pressing game fits right into Brendan Rodgers’ system.

I look back at his performance against Swansea back in December. His first goal came from his pressing and energy. As for his second goal, we are talking about some brilliant dribbling around the box to open himself up for a shot on goal.

I feel at times his lack of pace does limit his game but when the likes of Sterling, Sturridge and Ibe are in the side it doesn’t tend to make a huge difference.

At times I believe he has been criticized unfairly. It is never easy jumping into a new season without all the pre-season games and training. He was practically months behind the others which made it all the more difficult for him.

I feel as a fan base we should judge Adam Lallana after a full season. We have seen glimpses of what the man can do and if he can consistently get a game and stay away from injuries, he could have a real impact on Liverpool’s progress over the next few years.

Lallana has the right mentality and attitude to achieve success with the club.

When I watch him I see a player who understands what an honour it is to wear the shirt. Also the fact that he admitted he hasn’t lived up to his price tag shows he’s honest about his situation and wants to put things right.

As a fan base, we need to keep the faith in Adam Lallana. I still believe he is Liverpool’s best signing out of last summer and we will eventually get to see that. His technical ability alongside his work rate will put him back on track to be the player he was consistently at Southampton.

Not only do we need to stand by him, but all the players.

There is no doubt it has been a difficult season but I’m certain the good times will return for the players and the fans because we will see players like Adam Lallana step up.
