The Argentine was a truly wonderful player for us, helping us reach a Champions League final and come second in the Premier League under Rafael Benitez. Since joining Barcelona he has become one of the very best around.
CM) Alberto Aquilani (£17.1m, Roma)
Injuries ruined what looked to be a very promising career. The Italian barely got chance to show what he could do at Liverpool and was quickly shipped out on loan. The deal eventually became permanent and Aquilani was gone.
CM) Adam Lallana (£25m, Southampton)
Yet another player who has struggled with injuries since arriving Anfield, albeit not quite to the same degree. A couple of minor problems have stopped us from seeing the best of him so far. Let’s hope that changes soon.
