Liverpool defeated Stoke City to put ourselves in the League Cup semi-final driving seat with the home leg still to come at Anfield.
Jordon Ibe gave us a first-half lead, but we noticed after watching the game again that Roberto Firmino was so delighted with his team-mate’s contribution – he almost sent him flying!
Sprinting to catch up with Ibe, Firmino shoved the wonderkid winger, who did well to stay on his feet!
Firmino put in a typically Firmino performance. There were glimpses of class (especially when combining with Coutinho early on), but he lacked a cutting edge in the final third and was nowhere near as clinical as we need someone playing as a centre-forward to be.
As he seemingly always does, he tired late on – and his shooting was poor.
Saying that, he still suits our style and Jurgen Klopp’s tactics better than Christian Benteke, who had to settle for a spot on the bench.
The Belgian is a certainty to come back in for the FA Cup tie with Exeter on Friday however.
