Cast your minds back to the summer of 2012. Brendan Rodgers had just been appointed as King Kenny’s successor, and in the weeks that followed TV cameras followed him around the club for the ill-conceived documentary “Being Liverpool”.
It was in one of the episodes of said TV show that Rodgers called the diminutive former Swansea player “the Welsh Xavi”, and it’s a nickname that’s stuck to Allen ever since (via Mail).
