Report says Bayern will ban Gotze from Champions League; Germans respond emphatically

Bayern Munich are so desperate to offload Mario Gotze, they’ll not select him for their Champions League squad in 2016/7 to force him out of the club!

That was according to German publication Sued Deutsche on Tuesday, who said the Bundesliga champions were so desperate to get Gotze’s €14m wages off their books – they’d be willing to go to almost any lengths to achieve it.

Sport1, also a German publication, agree that Bayern are desperate to sell the playmaker this summer, and directly state that manager Carlo Ancelotti and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have told Gotze he should find a new club.

They do however reject the claim that he’s been threatened with Champions League banishing, with Rummenigge coming out fighting:

“This is fictitious,” said the board boss.

“The fact remains that we defend ourselves against any false or malicious disclosure, consistent with all available legal means.”

So there you have it; Gotze isn’t wanted, but he’s not going to be forced out of the club to such an extent that he’ll be banished from Bayern’s Champions League squad…

The player has stated a desire to stay, but honestly, we can’t see Gotze in Bavaria in 2016/17 after the way his club has disrespected him – the scorer of a World Cup winning goal and five time Bundesliga champion.

Will he sign for Liverpool? It’s looking a long shot, but how could he contemplate remaining where he is…? If only we’d have beaten Sevilla in the Europa League Final – not only for for the glory – but for our ambitions in the transfer market too.
