Our new boy Ragnar Klavan has been speaking to the media after putting pen to paper on a £4.2 million deal to take him from Augsburg to Anfield.

He becomes the third player to join from the Bundesliga this summer after earlier deals for Loris Karius and Joel Matip.

He said he thought Anfield was “something special” and he was “privileged to be here”.

“It’s a compact stadium, but there’s so much history in there, this is what excites me more,” he said.

“These days a lot of teams have really new stadiums which look good and everything is clean, but Anfield…it’s not the newest, but it’s the place to be”

“The history…how many trophies they’ve won. Then what kind of names have been here in Melwood and at Anfield Road – that I can be a part of this club…I can’t describe it, it’s something special. I’m privileged to be here.” (via Echo).

He went on to speak about how much he thought of Jurgen Klopp, admitting he knew something special would come from working with him:

“He (Klopp) knew me when I played in the Bundesliga from when he was still there and when I heard about this chance to have multiple good things together, to represent Liverpool and work with Jurgen Klopp, I didn’t doubt in my mind that something really, really good would come out of it.”

It’s unclear when we might see Klavan in action for the first time. He has been brought in as defensive cover for the injured Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez.
