Liverpool deal may be scuppered by €5.5m wage demands

Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool career appears to be all but over, although we’re finding it hard to offload him. Very few clubs appear to be willing to take a risk on the controversial Italian striker, and his wage demands appear to be putting off those who are, as reported by Turkish outlet Fanatik.

The report claims that Besiktas are keen on signing the former Manchester City man on loan, but are unwilling to pay his €5.5m per year wages. They want him to lower his terms, but it’s unclear whether Balotelli would be willing to accept.

If we can’t find anywhere else for him to go, then it may be in our best interests to pay the difference and just get him out of the club. He doesn’t seem like he’ll be playing any part at Liverpool this season, so if we can’t find him a club then he’ll simply be leeching off our wage budget.

That said though, the player himself should really be willing to accept a step down in both quality and wages, or he may risk damaging his career even more than he has done already.

No top teams want to take a chance on Balotelli at the moment, and none of the smaller teams can afford to accommodate him. If he isn’t willing to settle then he may just end up stagnating further and never recovering, and it would be a shame if he were to never even come close to realising his potential.
