Simon Mignolet has said Divock Origi can take his to a whole new level in the 2016/17 campaign.

Speaking to the Echo before tonight’s friendly against Roma, Mignolet said he expects his fellow countryman to score more than the ten goals he managed in the last campaign.

“If he can stay injury free then I’d expect him to kick on a level this season. Without the injuries last season he would have scored more than 10.”

Origi missed a big chunk of the end of the season after being clobbered by Everton’s Funes Mori in a horror tackle during the Merseyside derby.

He was called up to the Euro 2016 squad by Belgium, but was limited to just two appearances off the bench.

“Divock showed what he can do [against Milan],” Mignolet continued.

“I know when he cuts in like that what can happen. There’s always a good chance he will find the net.He came on and made a big difference and that’s what you want to see from him. Let’s hope he keeps progressing and evolving as a player.

The stopper firmly believes, however, that the key to success is staying injury free:

“If he can stay fit and keeps working as hard as he is in the moment then he will score more for us.”
