Sports Illustrated makes interesting claim about definite Liverpool transfer target

Christian Pulisic is a man, or should we say boy, definitely on Jurgen Klopp’s short-term and long-term radar.

The American, who at 18 is already a starter for his county, was subject of a rejected £11m bid from Liverpool back in August (via Telegraph), but remains a target for the boss in future windows confirms respected Liverpool correspondent Tony Barrett in his column for Joe.

US publication Sports Illustrated has today suggested that Pulisic will now not sign an extension on his contract, which runs out in 2019, before seeing how often he’s used at Borussia Dortmund.

Thomas Tuchel rates Pulisic highly, but with the likes of Mario Gotze, Aubemeyang, Andre Schurrle, Emre Mor, Marco Reus and Ousmane Dembele competing for places up top, his chances could be limited…

Saying that, he’d face a similarly difficult battle at Liverpool, with Sadio Mane, Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi, Sheyi Ojo and Danny Ings all fighting for three positions at the moment.

In fairness, Pulisic has played two and half gams of Dortmund’s past three encounters, which saw 17 goals scored and none conceded, so it’s not like he’s being ignored in Germany!

Still, this is one we’ll pay attention to from afar. The kid’s mighty talented and we’d love him to show it at Anfield one day.
