Liverpool striker injured; unlikely to feature v Swansea

We’d be surprised if Divock Origi featured in the matchday squad against Swansea, judging by these comments from Jurgen Klopp.

“Not too much news. It’s a normal training week with a couple of little things here, little things there,” Klopp told today’s press conference ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime clash, cited in the Echo.

“Divock had a little knock on his foot, but in the end it’s nothing major. But maybe it is a little bit too short a period for the game.”

The young Belgian would unlikely have started in the Premier League fixture but has been used regularly from the bench so far this term, scoring two goals in his two EFL Cup starts as well.

Origi’s talent is prodigious and we hope he overcomes whatever issue he has with minimum fuss.

In his place, Danny Ings might get a spot on the bench. The Englishman has been way down the pecking order this season and has only featured once, from the bench away to Derby.

Klopp’s real decision though is who to go with in his front-three. Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Coutinho started at home to Hull with Daniel Sturridge on the bench, but the forward is fit and will be chomping at the bit for another outing up top. Still, if Klopp goes with Firmino, you could understand why given the Brazilian’s importance to our press.
