Two Liverpool players named in Gareth Southgate’s first England XI

England are not far away from kick-off in their second game of the World Cup qualifying campaign.

After a late Adam Lallana goal gave them a 1-0 win over 10-man Slovakia a month ago, they face minnows Malta at Wembley tonight. The game gets going at 5pm BST.

Of course, it was all-change in the England camp in the build-up to the match as Sam Allardyce was given his marching orders. In game U21 boss Gareth Southgate, and he has just named his first-ever starting eleven.

Two Liverpool players have made the cut. Jordan Henderson will start in midfield while Daniel Sturridge is given the nod in attack.
