Joe Allen risks Liverpool fans’ love with comments on Man. United

Few players that have left Liverpool in recent seasons received a kinder farewell from supporters than Joe Allen.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Welshman became somewhat of a cult-hero, putting in some expert performances and growing a bear to boot!

We decided to sell him to Stoke in the summer as Klopp couldn’t offer him guaranteed minutes, but Liverpool supporters still hold him in very high regards.

Well, we did until these comments – which indicate he found scoring against Manchester United difficult – because he’s a fan!

“Don’t tell anyone but I was a Man U fan as well, so it was a bit tough for me to score that goal,” said the midfielder, who’s scored three in three for club and country.

We suppose Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler grew up supporting Everton, so we can probably forgive Allen – especially as he’s not at the club anymore!

Allen’s been Stoke’s best player by some distance this season and we’re pleased to see him doing so well. If his goals stop our rivals picking up points, then all the better. He deserves the minutes and the plaudits he’s getting at the moment, which he was often deprived of at Anfield.
