Origi and Mignolet sit on the bench, but former Red scores a hat-trick

For the second Belgium game in succession this week, neither Divock Origi nor Simon Mignolet saw time on the pitch.

But it was a happier night for former Liverpool striker Christian Benteke – he managed to score a hat-trick as Belgium swept to an easy 6-0 victory over UEFA new boys and European minnows Gibraltar.

Benteke’s night got off to the perfect start as he smashed the visitors ahead inside 60 seconds, and thereafter it was one-way traffic.

Rumoured Liverpool target Axel Witsel doubled the lead after 20 minutes, and Benteke got his second on the stroke of half-time.

The result leaves Belgium top of Group H with nine points from three games and a 100 percent record.

Next up is a friendly against the Dutch in mid-November then a clash with Ragnar Klavan’s Estonia three days later.
