Emre Can loves Liverpool team-mate’s special skill: ‘Every ball is in the net. He’s very, very good’

Thanks Emre – that’s James Milner from the penalty spot jinxed then!

Liverpool’s German midfield dynamo Emre Can has lauded James Milner’s ability from the penalty spot, claiming he never even misses in training.

So far this term, Liverpool have been awarded four Premier League spot-kicks, all of which have been precisely slotted away by the Englishman.

“I’m young, but I haven’t seen in any of my teams so far such a good penalty taker. In training, every ball is in the net. He’s a very, very good penalty taker,” Can told the official website.

“It has surprised a lot of people, because it’s not easy to play at left-back from midfield,” the 22-year-old continued, when asked about Milner’s success this season.

“But Millie did it very well and I think he has scored more goals than last year in this time. He’s a very important player for us. He has to keep going like that and the team has to keep going like that.”

Milner’s been superb at left-back in place of Alberto Moreno this term and we hope his strong performances in this position continue.

Can has been out of the picture for most of the campaign, with Jurgen Klopp preferring a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Gini Wijnaldum, but with the latter two likely injured – he’s a practical certainty to play against Manchester United on Monday.

Hopefully he’ll be able to come into the battle seamlessly, as with Jose Mourinho in charge of our bitterest rivals and it being a nighttime kick-off, it’s going to be an emotional occasion.
