Klopp predicts tough EFL cup tie and and expresses need for great atmosphere

If his first year in charge of the club is anything to go by, then Jurgen Klopp will accept nothing less than an incredible Anfield atmosphere.

The Reds boss is predicting a tough game on Tuesday night as his side host Tottenham in the fourth round of the EFL cup.

Liverpool haven’t lost against their opponents in the last eight meetings between the two across all competitions, earning five wins and three draws.

Klopp, however, is prepared for a tightly fought contest.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “They are still good. Good in defending, good in attacking, not a lot of weaknesses.”

“It will be close but that’s no problem, it makes it exciting.”

“It’s again, what I said after the [West Brom] game about the atmosphere, I think everybody who was there thought something was different today.”

“We are not four, five, six nil in the lead but the atmosphere was really fantastic and that’s what we have to try to create again.”

We are starting to lose count of how many times Jurgen Klopp describes the importance of a good Anfield atmosphere.

He is right to, though. The crowd have once again become key in driving Liverpool’s efforts on the pitch and the players will be in need of it again on Tuesday against a strong Spurs team.

Liverpool will be on the hunt for nothing less than a win this time round after having to settle for a 1-1 draw when the two sides met in August’s league game at White Hart Lane.
