Ligue 1 club Lille want to offer Liverpool’s forgotten centre-back Mamadou Sakho an escape route, report French publication MaxiFoot.
The powerhouse defender hasn’t played for Liverpool once this term, despite being fully fit, because Jurgen Klopp has decided to freeze him out of first-team contention.
This is because of a number of incidents, beginning with the furore regarding his preliminary ban for taking a fat burner (later overturned), ending with his disciplinary issues during the pre-season tour of America that saw him sent home to England. If that wasn’t enough, Sakho went on a late night SnapChat rant the night before a fixture a few weeks back – which impressed our manager even less…
Lille are struggling towards the bottom of Ligue 1 and Sakho would undeniably provide them a serious boost. The report suggests they want to loan him in January, which is an offer Liverpool will surely accept – considering we tried everything to loan him out in the summer.
Back then, the player refused, promising to fight his way back into the side – but surely now he realises that with Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan and Lucas ahead of him in the pecking order, he needs to leave at the nearest possible opportunity.
